Springfield Climate Justice Initiative

About

Over the past five years, the Springfield Climate Justice Initiative has been working to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and enhance climate resilience in Springfield, Massachusetts. Through a strategic planning process, the coalition identified Community Choice Energy and the Racial and Health Equity Assessment Tool as key areas of focus.

The initiative centers its work on residents most impacted by climate-related disasters and climate change effects. It has successfully advocated for the passage of Community Choice Energy in Springfield and secured a competitive Environmental Protection Agency grant for the next three years to help build a greener and more resilient Springfield.
