COVID, Housing & Health: Legal Questions Answered

On May 6, the Springfield Healthy Homes Collaborative (SHHC) and Arise for Social Justice held a Facebook Live Event on Housing and Health: What You Need to Know During COVID-19. Their guest speakers were Jane Edmonstone and Claudia Quintero from Community Legal Aid presenting and addressing questions on everything from evictions on subsidized or private housing to unemployment.

Watch the recording from the recent training by the Office of Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell about the Unauthorized Practice of Immigration Law (UPIL). UPIL is a widespread problem in which dishonest individuals falsely disguise themselves as licensed attorneys and charge immigrants hundreds and thousands of dollars for immigration services, forms, or unlicensed legal advice. This training covered the difference between legal advice from an immigration attorney vs unlicensed legal advice, immigration attorney scams and how to detect them, what to do if you become a victim of an immigration lawyer scam, and resources for legal help. This training is facilitated to prevent immigrants and their families from becoming a victim of UPIL.
